Top Gun

How did the bar became famous from the hit movie “Top Gun”?

This one was a stroke of luck. The location director for Paramount Studios was driving through downtown San Diego in search of locations during the filming of “Top Gun” at Miramar NAS. After stopping in for a beer, he like the joint, and brought back the director, Tony Scott, who approached us about the possibility of closing down for a day to do some shooting. In retrospect, it was one of our better business decisions.

Visit the bar and take home a “Top Gun” tank top, t-shirt, or hat! Postcards are also available. To View the Scenes shot here at the Barbeque Click Here

What’s this about the KCBBQ shrine?

Other restaurants have bars- Kansas City Barbeque has a shrine. Impossible to take in completely in just one sitting, each visit will reveal a novelty newly added or not spotted before. In other words, we’ve collected a heck of a lot of stuff in the past 33 years!

We would also like to take this opportunity to dispel any rumors circulating at present about any of our memorabilia being acquired by sneaky, dishonest, or illegal means. Our hats, plates, bras, etc. are all signed and dated by their donors, a requirement designed to keep us out of court. Jerry the curator of the museum, will be glad to take you on a guided tour, as long as you keep his glass full (O’douls only please. Jerry doesn’t drink on shift).
